Karina Skrzeszewska – Soprano

Karina Skrzeszewska was born in Wroclaw (Poland), and she grew up in a multicultural atmosphere of music and the arts. After getting her singing Master Degree at Wroclaw Music Academy she perfected her vocals skills by participating in master classes led by Rusko Ruskov, Paulos Raptis, Ingrid Kremling, Renata Scotto and others.

In 2008 she made her debut in the title role of Lucia in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at Silesian Opera in Bytom (Poland), to great critical acclaim. After this production she was honored by the Golden Masque Award for the best vocal-acting role in 2008. In the result of this great performance Peter Dvorsky invited Karina to take part in the new production of Lucia di Lammermoor in Kosice (Slovakia), then to sing Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and to participate in International Verdi Gala Concerts at National Theater in Bratislava in 2011.

She has also participated in numerous performances on the tour of the countries of Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain, where she performed the roles of Lucia, Donna Anna and both soprano roles in Orff’s Carmina burana and Catulli carmina.

Over the past years Karina has taken part in the productions dedicated to great rulers of England. By creating the title roles in operas by Donizetti – Maria Stuarda and Anna Bolena – she proved to be a great interpreter of the “bel canto” style. Her performances have been enthusiastically received by the audience and highly praised from reviewers.

Karina has special kind of voice giving her big technical possibilities. It sounds full and warm in the middle range, but it’s also very mobile and clear in the highest range (achieving even F6 note). This voice – combined with dramatic acting talent – allow her to perform roles from Verdi repertoire with success. In 2016 she debuted at the stage of Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz with the part of Elisabetta in Verdi’s Don Carlo, and in March 2017 she performed the role of Leonora in Verdi’s La forza del destino at the Silesian Opera in Bytom.

In the next year (2018), the artist once again won the hearts of Krakow’s audience, this time as the title role of Anna Bolena in the Donizetti opera. Her creation was enthusiastically received by the audience and the reviewers not only appreciated the artist’s vocal talent but also her outstanding acting skills. The year 2018 was also the time of Karina’s debut on the German scene, where she performed as Elisabetta in Don Carlos and Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

The 2018/19 artistic season began with a concert at the Lviv Opera and then with a participation in the Inaugural Concert at the Wrocław Opera House, where at the end of September she also created the role of Abigaille in the premiere performance of Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi. Karina Skrzeszewska with her performance “once again proved that her creation gives splendor and energy to operatic shows”. The beginning of 2019 brought the artist’s debut at Landstheater Niederbayern in Germany, where she performed Anna Bolena’s title role. The great performance was rewarded with future proposal to return on the same stage in autumn for Nabucco shows as Abigaille and as Queen Elisabeth in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda.
